The Weather

¡¡Remember!!

The weather is the state of the atmosphere at a particular time and place. The weather often changes. It is determined by temperature, precipitation and wind, and it happens in the troposphere.

TEMPERATURE: The temperature is an important element of the weather for all living things.

Humans need a warm temperature to live, between 18 and 22ºC.

We measure the temperature in ºC (degrees Celsius), and we use a thermometer for measuring it.

PRECIPITATION: It happens when the water drops in the clouds get bigger and heavier, and fall to the ground. Depending on the temperature, that water can fall as rain, snow or hail.

We measure the precipitation in litres per square metre (l/m2), and we use a pluviometer for measuring it.

WIND: The wind is the air moving in a particular direction and speed. There are different types of wind:

-Breezes (light winds)
-Gales (strong winds)
-Hurricanes (extremely strong winds, destructive winds)

We measure the speed of the wind in (km/h) with an anemometer......

and its direction with a weather vane.....
